Bomb Bish Bakery & Café

The Award-Winning Magic of Welland's Sweetest Destination

If you follow the scent of caramelized sugar and golden pastry down East Main Street, you’ll eventually land at the doorstep of a local legend: Bomb Bish Bakery. This isn’t just another bakeshop – it’s a destination, and after my visit today, I can confidently say it’s one of my new favourite Welland staples.

A Tradition of Excellence

When I say these treats are “award-winning,” I’m not just using a buzzword. Bomb Bish has earned the hardware to prove it — and the trophy case near the register is honestly a little intimidating in the best way. Among the accolades on display:

  • 2026 NBAA Butter Tart Festival Winner
  • 2022 People’s Choice Award (Traditional Professional Division)
  • GNCC Equity Entrepreneur Award (2025 & 2026)

This bakery is a labour of love built on the support of the Niagara community, and you can feel that the second you walk through the door.

Meet the Owner

Behind the counter (and behind every one of those trophies) is owner Koreen Perry. While I was there, she was mixing up a strawberry “dirty soda”… which I can confirm is the perfect summer treat to pair with a tart. The whole spot has that warm, family-run energy where you genuinely feel welcomed in.

The Star of the Show: Butter Tarts

The butter tarts are the reason people drive across town for this place. Whether you’re a classic-pecan purist or you want something a little unexpected, there’s a flavour for everyone.

The Jalapeño Cheddar Cashew tart gives you a genuinely surprising kick, while the French Toast Walnut tastes like a cozy Sunday morning in every bite — and it’s no wonder, since one of the staff told me it’s their best seller.

I also walked away with a Bomb Bish Buttertart Loyalty Card after my first purchase: buy 10 six-p

acks, get a six-pack free. And before I even paid for anything, I was handed a free sample of the Raisin Buttertart — which sealed the deal immediately.

Beyond the Tarts: More Sweet Finds

The tarts may be the headliners, but the rest of the “Sweet Shop” case is just as worth your time:

Peanut Butter Fudge — rich, decadent, $4.50 each

Signature Scones — Raisin or Lemon Blueberry

Rotating artisanal flavours — keep an eye out for Cotton Candy and Pistachio

More Than a Bakery: A Spot to Stay Awhile

What surprised me most was how much space there is to actually sit down. Bomb Bish moved from its original cozy spot on King Street into a much bigger location on East Main Street, and now half the shop is the bakery counter while the other half is a full indoor café where you can order specialty drinks to go with your treats.

There’s comfy indoor seating, a couple of cute bistro tables outside, and the kind of decor that makes you want to linger over a coffee and a tart instead of rushing out.
